Queen's Women's Basketball opened a challenging road weekend in the heart of Toronto, beginning a back-to-back slate with a matchup against the TMU Bold.
The Gaels set the tone early, building an 18–13 lead after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 36–28 by halftime. Queen's shot efficiently in the opening half, connecting on 52.2 percent from the field, while controlling the glass with 23 rebounds through the first 20 minutes. Bella Gaudet (Commerce) led the offensive effort at the break, knocking down all attempts from beyond the arc and pacing the Gaels with nine points.
The game tightened after halftime, with Queen's holding a slim 52–51 edge after three quarters. TMU responded in the final frame, pulling away down the stretch to secure a 75–66 victory and hand the Gaels their first loss of the season.
Gaudet finished with a team-high 15 points, shooting 5-of-9 from three-point range, while Mikayla McFarlane (Kinesiology) added 13 points, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Brooke Hussey (Kinesiology) also contributed, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 2-of-2 from the stripe.
Queen's will look to regroup as the road trip continues tomorrow afternoon, closing out the weekend against the Varsity Blues in another key OUA matchup.
