BOX SCORE Queen's Men's Hockey hit the road to the nation's capital for a tough East Division matchup against the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Minto Sports Complex.
Ottawa struck first at 3:33 of the opening period, and the Gaels struggled to find their rhythm offensively. It was a gritty, physical frame, with both teams battling hard along the boards and in front of the net.
The Gee-Gees extended their lead to 2–0 halfway through the second period on a short-handed 3-on-1, while Queen's continued to press offensively. Despite several power-play opportunities, the Gaels couldn't capitalize, leaving them scoreless through two periods.
Queen's netminder Tanner Wickware (Graduate Studies) was solid in goal, stopping 17 shots through the first two frames to keep the Gaels within striking distance.
The third period remained scoreless, and Ottawa held on for the 2–0 win.
Queen's looks to get back on track tomorrow night against the Carleton Ravens, aiming to grab two points. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., with all the action available live on OUA.TV.
