KINGSTON, Ont. (April 1, 2025) – It has been an absolute privilege to work closely with so many of our dedicated student-athletes and leaders throughout the year. Their contributions to our club programs are truly remarkable, and it's inspiring to see their passion not just in competition, but in the countless hours they invest behind the scenes as well. With many varsity club programs, it's incredibly difficult to narrow it down to just a few individuals who stand out.
Over the past year, this year's award winners were instrumental in organizing and hosting a major provincial competition. Their leadership has been a driving force in making this season a standout one, and their ability to collaborate and support the team has been invaluable.
As the club president, one of our winners has been the backbone of the club's organization this year. From coordinating travel arrangements and answering my many emails quickly, this individual has handled it all with exceptional skill and dedication.
Our other winner took on the role of meet manager for the Regional Competition – this student leader took on the critical role of organizing officials, liaising between sport organizations, and managing volunteers and schedules to ensure everything ran smoothly.
They each really stepped up, finding their voice in their unique roles in leading the club. Despite their busy academic and personal schedules in their final year of study, they showed incredible dedication and commitment. They were also an absolute joy to work with, always bringing a positive energy to everything we did. I had so much fun working alongside them this year.
I am proud to present the co-recipients of this year's Varsity Club Student- Athlete Leadership award to Artistic Swimming President,
Meghan Vrkoc and Meet Manager,
Claire Christie.
