Game Recap: Basketball (M) |

Gaels struggle to recover, fall 92-72 to the Ravens

The Queen's Gaels men's basketball struggled to recover from an early deficit, falling 92-72 to the Carleton Ravens. Despite some mid-game momentum, the Gaels were unable to match Carleton's offensive power, ultimately suffering their third straight loss.

The Ravens quickly set the tone for the rest of the game, jumping to a commanding 17-2 lead just under four minutes into the game, forcing an early timeout by the Gaels.

The Gaels made a push late in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 50-44 with under three minutes remaining. Nonetheless, the Ravens cushioned a 57-47 advantage going into halftime.

Despite multiple attempts in the second half by the Gaels to rally back, the Ravens dug in and held their ground, ultimately coming away with a 92-72 victory.

With the loss, Queen's drops to 14-4 on the season, falling third in the East Division behind the 15-4 Ravens.

Luka Syllas and AJ Cummings led Queen's with 14 points apiece, while Ollie Engen added 13.

The Gaels will look to regroup as they head over to North Bay, Ont., to take on the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, Feb. 7. The tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
