The Queen's Men's Hockey team battled the Nipissing Lakers in a spirited Thursday evening contest, coming out on top with a 4–2 victory.
The Lakers struck first, opening the scoring at 7:27 of the first period to take a 1–0 lead.
Queen wasted no time responding in the second frame. Just minutes in, Sebbie Johnson (Arts & Sciences) buried the equalizer, with Michael Renwick (Arts & Sciences) and Nolan Hutcheson (Health Studies) picking up the assists. The teams headed into the final period deadlocked at 1–1.
Midway through the third, Kolton Cousins (Arts & Sciences) gave the Gaels their first lead of the night, finishing off a feed from Ian Lemieux (Arts & Sciences). Nipissing battled back to tie things up with just under eight minutes remaining, but the Gaels weren't done yet. William Bouwer (Arts & Sciences) restored the lead with a clutch goal, assisted by Cameron Morton (Arts & Sciences) and Sebbie Johnson (Arts & Sciences), with his second point of the night.
With time winding down, Sam Marburg (Arts & Sciences) sealed the deal with an empty-netter to make it 4–2 and secure the win for the Gaels.
