Queen's Women's Rugby drop tight contest to UBC, to play for bronze medal at U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship

Queen's Women's Rugby dropped a tight contest to the host UBC Thunderbirds, 20-14, in the semifinals at the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship.

The game was close throughout, and the Gaels were pushing for the potential game-winning try late in the game and were just yards away from the try zone, but UBC managed to keep Queen's from scoring and ultimately held on for the six-point win.

Mika Matsukubo (Health Sciences) and Lizzie Gibson (Arts & Science) scored tries for the Gaels in the loss. Gibson added four points off two successful conversions.

With the loss, Queen's will play for the bronze medal in the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship on Sunday. The Gaels will take on their OUA rivals, the Guelph Gryphons for the national bronze medal.
