Queen's Women's Rugby got off to a winning start at the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship in Vancouver, B.C. Wednesday night.
The Gaels, the No. 2 seed in the championship tournament, won their quarterfinal matchup against the Acadia Axewomen 90-10 to advance to the semifinals.
OUA Player of the Year
Lizzie Gibson (Arts & Science) led Queen's on offence in the big 75-point win, recording two tries and six conversions for 22 total points.
Two other Gaels players - Madison Juneau (Graduate Studies) and
Mika Matsukubo (Health Sciences) - also scored a pair of tries each for Queen's in the win.

Madi Thompson (Arts & Science),
Kennedi Stevenson (Arts & Science),
Jayne Armatage (Arts & Science),
Brynn Jenkins (Health Sciences), and
Drew Spencer (Education) also scored tries for the Gaels in the win.
Tatum Lougheed (Kinesiology) added four conversions for Queen's in the win.
With the victory, the Gaels advance to the championship semifinals and will play Friday with a spot in the national championship game on the line.
