Gaels Fall 111-88 to Lakehead Despite Strong Effort

The Queen's Men's Basketball team faced a challenging matchup against Lakehead, falling 88-111 in a hard-fought contest. Despite the loss, the Gaels displayed determination and skill throughout the game.

Ollie Engen (Kinesiology) led the charge with 23 points, adding four assists and showing his offensive versatility. Lucas Ponting (Commerce) added 17 points, while Jakub Dobiech (Arts) contributed 16, giving the team strong support on the scoreboard.

The Gaels fought hard from the start, putting up 27 points in the first quarter, but Lakehead led 27-33 by the buzzer. In the second quarter, the Gaels added 25 points, closing the half with a score of 52-61 in Lakehead's favour. The Gaels scored 19 in the third quarter, bringing the score to 71-84 heading into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Gaels managed 17 points, but Lakehead pulled away with 27, ending the game 88-111. The Gaels battled hard in every quarter, keeping the contest close and showcasing their determination until the final buzzer.

The Gaels will aim to bounce back against the Windsor Lancers on Friday, October 31st.
