Late Goals Lift McGill Past Queen’s 3–1 at McConnell Arena

On Saturday afternoon, Queen's Men's Hockey continued their road trip at McConnell Arena in Montreal, facing off against an undefeated McGill Redbirds team. The opening period was a defensive showdown, with the Gaels limited to six shots on goal. Despite a strong effort, McGill found the back of the net late, capitalizing shorthanded on a set play with just 30 seconds remaining. After 20 minutes, Queen's trails 1–0.

The Gaels answered back in the second, breaking through on the man advantage at 9:56. Sam Marburg (Arts & Science) crashed the net and buried a rebound off a D-to-D shot from the point, with Ian Lemieux (Arts & Science) and Colin Holmes (Arts & Science) drawing the assists. Midway through the frame, Aidan Spooner (Business) came up with a huge stop on a shorthanded breakaway to keep the game level. After two periods, both teams are even 1-1.

The Gaels showed grit in the final frame, battling through a tough 5-on-3 penalty kill and logging big defensive minutes to keep the game within reach. But with 2:43 left on the clock, McGill pushed ahead to grab the lead. The Redbirds added another shortly after to seal the deal, taking this one 3–1 over Queen's.

Queen's Men's Hockey is back in action next Saturday, October 18th, in Ottawa as they face off against the Carleton Ravens. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
