Queen's Men's Basketball extend winning streak to 11 with big victory over Ridgebacks

The Queen's Gaels Men's Basketball Team extended their winning streak to 11 games, cruising to a 99-76 victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in Oshawa. The victory marks another dominant road performance for Queen's, now 7-0 away from the ARC this season, and solidifies their position as one of the top teams in the OUA.

Queen's set the tone early with relentless defensive pressure, forcing 25 turnovers and converting them into 32 points. The Gaels also controlled the boards, out-rebounding Ontario Tech 39-23 to generate key second-chance scoring opportunities.

Luka Syllas (Concurrent Education) led the Gaels with a strong all-around performance, recording 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists while shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Ollie Engen (Kinesiology) continued a stellar rookie campaign, contributing a team-high 18 points, while Isaac Krueger (Arts & Science) added 13 points and seven rebounds to anchor the Gaels in the paint.

Lucas Ponting (Commerce) led the bench unit with 17 points, including three three-pointers, showcasing the depth that has been a hallmark of Queen's success this season.
The Ridgebacks were held at bay despite shooting an impressive 49.1% from the field. Queen's defense capitalized on miscues, with Scott Jenkins (Concurrent Education) and Jalen Sikkema (Arts & Science) providing key stops.

Queen's built a commanding 27-point lead late in the second quarter, effectively sealing the game before halftime. The Gaels shot 46.2% from the field and 37.9% from beyond the arc, displaying a balanced offensive attack.

The win solidifies Queen's position as the No. 8 team in the U SPORTS rankings heading into the second half of the season.

The Gaels will return to action this Saturday, hosting the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at the ARC with tipoff at 4pm. Students can attend the game for free, with streaming available on OUA.tv.
