Queen's Men's Soccer Defeat RMC Paladins Once Again in Shutout Match

(22/09/24) - Kingston, ON.  The Queen's Gaels Men's Soccer team have once again shutout the RMC Paladins as both teams competed against each other twice this weekend.  With the Gaels shutout victory on Friday evening of 5-0, the men gained momentum and strategy going into Sunday afternoons match to bring home another win of 1-0 at Richardson Stadium.

With this win, the Gaels now hold a 2-4-1 record and have moved above the Trent University Excalibur's in the OUA standings to seventh place.

With two shots on goal in the first half, the Gaels were dominant offensively but could not get passed Paladins goalie Finn Gregoire.  Exhibiting strong plays of moving the ball down the field and maintaining control on Paladins territory, the ball was just waiting to find the back of the net.

The second half of the game saw three shots on goal, and a goal at 61:58 by midfielder, no. 20, Cameron Cino (Applied Sciences), assisted by midfielder, no. 10, Andrea Gortana (School of Business).  With a total of six shots on goal, the Gaels commanded the field and kept pressure to not allow for a single shot on goal attempt by the Paladins.

With their next game set to be played away on Saturday, September 28, at 1pm against the Nippissing Lakers, who stand fifth place in the OUA standings with a record of 3-2-1, the Gaels aim to maintain confidence from their successful weekend against the Paladins going into their next match.
