Queen's Women's Hockey lost 6-1 to the Toronto Varsity Blues in the third and deciding game of their OUA McCaw Cup Playoffs quarterfinals series Sunday afternoon in Toronto, Ont. With the loss, the Gaels dropped the series 2-1 and were eliminated from the OUA Playoffs.
The Varsity Blues rode a strong second period to the win, scoring three goals in just over a minute early in the frame. After opening the scoring in the first period, Toronto held a 4-0 lead after the offensive surge.
Queen's would get on the board later in second, when
Kennedy MacAlpine (Newmarket, Ont.) beat Toronto's goalie on a highlight-reel tic-tac-toe play MacAlpine started on the power play.
Sarah Campbell (Oakville, Ont.) recorded the assist on the Gaels' goal.
Emma Tennant (Pointe Claire, Que.) made 25 saves on 31 shots from Toronto for Queen's in Game 3.
The Varsity Blues will advance to the semifinals where they will take on the Guelph Gryphons.
