Gaels fall to Stingers in double overtime; eliminated from OUA Playoffs

Queen's Men's Hockey fell to the Concordia Stingers 4-3 in double overtime Friday night in Montreal, Que., and were eliminated from the OUA Playoffs with the loss.

After the Gaels fell to Concordia 3-1 in their series opener Wednesday, Queen's lost their OUA East quarterfinals series 2-0 with Friday's loss.

Queen's opened the scoring early in the first period when Holden Katzalay (West Vancouver, B.C.) found the back of the net on a goal assisted by Samuel Marburg (North Vancouver, B.C.) and Daniel Michaud (Belleville, Ont.).

Concordia would even the score midway through the second period and score twice more early in the third period to take a 3-1 lead.

Katzalay would score his second of the game late in the third period to pull Queen's within one, and then even the game with just over a minute left to play with his third goal of the game. Marburg and Jack Duff (Kingston, Ont.) recorded assists on Katzalay's second goal.

After a scoreless first period of overtime, the Stingers would win the game, and the series, with a goal five minutes into double overtime.
