KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 10, 2024) - Queen's Men's Hockey tied a program record for regular season wins at 19 Saturday at the Memorial Centre after defeating the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 6-3 in their regular season finale.
Prior to the game, the Gaels honoured graduating seniors Thomas Stevenson, Jacob Paquette, Scott Gervais, Alex Robert, Yantsis and Jakob Brahaney.

The first period was an even game between both teams, with neither team scoring for most of the period. However, with just under six minutes left, Ontario Tech scored a goal, and then a couple of minutes later
Jonathan Yantsis answered that goal for Queen's, ending the period with a score of 1-1.Â
Queen's came out fiery in the second period, with
Jonathan Yantsis scoring another goal for the Gaels four minutes in. While Queen's held the lead for the majority of the second period, Ontario Tech tied up the game with just under two minutes left. However,
Alex Robert came back and put the puck in the back of the Ridgebacks' net, putting Queen's back in the lead with a score of 3-2.Â
The Gaels kept up the high energy in the third period, with
Jonathan Yantsis scoring for Queen's within the first two minutes of the period. A couple of minutes later, Ontario Tech answered their goal, changing the score to 4-3 for Queen's. With just over seven minutes left in the game,
Jonathan Yantsis scored his fourth goal of the night. About thirty seconds later,
Cameron Tolnai scored the final goal of the game for Queen's, finishing 6-3 over the Ridgebacks.Â
After tonight's game, the Gaels' overall standing will rise to 19-9-0, and the men will be back in action for their first playoff game on February 14, where they will face the Concordia Stingers in Kingston.
