(29/11/24) - North York, ON., The Queen's Gaels Women's Basketball team successfully claims yet another win in their now 7-2 record for the season over the 3-6 York Lions. This marks the seventh win in a row for the Gaels as they continue their intimidating win streak. The Gaels have been unbeatable regardless of the injuries of no. 1 Haley Baerbieri (Arts and Sciences) and no. 4
Bella Gaudet (Commerce) who began the season as leaders for the Gaels. This game marks the second highest game in points for the Gaels this season.

Katrina Renon (Arts and Sciences) tied the game with no. 21
Brooke Hussey (Kinesiology) with 15 points, and led the Gaels in rebounds with 10. Renon coming off of a 10 point ad 13 rebound game against the Lakehead Thunderwolves last weekend, continued to dominate the court for the Gaels against the Lions.
The Gaels begin the first quarter with an eight point burst of offensive plays, allowing the Lions to struggle point-less on the scoreboard for the first minutes of the game. The Gaels deepen their lead quickly with a 10 point lead (16-6) over the Lions with four minutes left in the first. Pushing an offensive stride quickly in the first, the Gaels win the majority of the rebounds icing out the Lions from the net. The Gaels finish off the first quarter with a 21-11 lead.
Off the bat the Gaels breakaway from their 10 point lead with the score of 28-13, forcing the Lions to take their first timeout of the game seven minutes into the second. A three-pointer off the bench by Hagman initiated the offensive run in this quarter. The Gaels slowed down in points allowing the Lions to come back by five until no. 10
Ella Take (Arts and Sciences) breaks the Lions momentum with a jumper. Hussey brings the Gaels lead to 14 points making her way down the court to score a jumper, forcing the score to 32-18. The end of the second quarter saw the score 41-19 as the Gaels dominate the Lions.
Renon led the Gaels throughout the game in points with 13 by halfway mark. The Gaels maintained a 20 point lead over the Lions for the rest of the game, never allowing them to gain any offensive edge. Hussey and no. 7
Bree Bourget (Kinesiology), the two Gaels rookies, are making themselves known on the court finishing the game with 15 points for Hussey and 14 for Bourget. The third quarter ends with the Gaels leading by 25 points: 60-35.
The fourth quarter looked no different for the Gaels as the ball continued to sink while they fended off any Lions offensive plays. Queen's takes a 27 point lead with six minutes to go in the game. The momentum the Gaels have built and have demonstrated throughout this game is a result of riding the confidence from their six game win streak. Bourget scores another three-pointer from the arch with minutes to go in the game. The Gaels leave the court with another successful victory of 79-44 over the York Lions, as they have allowed the second fewest points in the league so far this season.
