Queen's Men's Hockey got back in the win column with a 2-1 overtime win over the host York Lions Saturday night in Toronto, Ont.
Nolan Hutcheson (Health Studies) scored the overtime winner to continue the terrific 2024-25 season. Hutcheson now leads the OUA and is tied for second in the U SPORTS in goals on the season with 11.
After the Lions opened the scoring in the first period, Queen's evened the score in the second when
Liam Tanner (Kinesiology) found the back of the net with a goal assisted by
Derek Hamilton (Arts & Science) and
Lucas Peric (Economics).
After a scoreless third period, Hutcheson scored four minutes into overtime, with
Trevor Longo (Commerce) and
Ethan Larmand (Arts & Science) picking up the assists.
Aidan Spooner (Business) picked up the win for the Gaels, recording 29 saves in the win. Queen's finished the game with 48 shots on net against York.
With the victory, the Gaels improved their record to 10-3-0-0 on the season. Queen's is tied for second in the OUA East Division standings with 20 points.
The Gaels will close out their weekend road trip Sunday in Oshawa, Ont., taking on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at 3 p.m.
