Queen's Men's Rugby will play for the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship after defeating the Guelph Gryphons 38-28 in the semifinals Friday night in Ottawa, Ont.
Third time was the charm for the Gaels, who defeated the Gryphons after previously falling to them in the OUA regular season and once again in the OUA Championship Game.
After Guelph opened the game with a 14-0 lead, the Gaels'
Marcus D'Acre (Economics) scored back-to-back tries to even the score.
Owen Lee (Commerce), who was named a CUMRC Second Team All-Star on Thursday, gave Queen's their first lead of the game with a try to move the score to 21-14.
Trekker James (Psychology) and Lee, with a second on the game, increased the Gaels' lead to 33-14 at half time.
Bauer Mercer (Economics) also found the try zone for Queen's in the second half, and the Gaels held on for a 10-point win.
D'Acre was named the Player of the Game for Queen's in the win.
