Queen's Women's Rugby defeat McMaster to extend regular season win streak to five seasons

KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 5, 2024) - Queen's Women's Rugby extended their OUA regular season win streak to five full seasons after closing out the 2024 regular season with a 123-3 win over the McMaster Marauders Saturday night at Nixon Field.

The Gaels, who finished the season 6-0, have not lost a regular season game since September, 2018, and their regular season win streak spans five full seasons and 29 games.

Kennedi Stevenson and Lizzie Gibson led the Gaels' offence in the win. Stevenson (Arts & Science) finished the match with a game-high five tries for 25 points while Gibson (Arts & Science) led all scorers with 38 points off two tries and 14 converts. The 38 points upped Gibson's regular season total to 100.

Madison Donnelly (Arts & Science) and Rachel Cullum (Arts & Science) also finished with multiple tries, recording two each, while Jiggy Schonfeld (Kinesiology), Mika Matsukubo (Health Sciences), Elena Pinkerton (Kinesiology), Maia Swemmer (Arts & Science), Sarah Hardy (Nursing), Ava Guindon (Applied Science), Kyleigh Chandron (Arts & Science), and Robyn Baker (Arts & Science) each finished the win with one try.

Saturday's game was also Seniors' Night, with Izzy Page, Mya Brubacher, Siobhan Sheerin, Lauryn Bons, Emma Brennan, Elena Pinkerton, Maddy May, Sophia Tafel, Kylie Mosgrove, Mika Matsukobu, and Grace Anderson being honoured for their time with the program prior to the game.

Queen's finished the 2024 season atop the OUA standings and will earn a bye through to the OUA semifinals.
