Queen's Women's Rugby's
Kennedi Stevenson was named the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Rookie of the Year for the 2024 season at the U SPORTS Women's Rugby All-Canadian Awards Banquet in Prince Edward Island Thursday.
Additionally, six Gaels were named
U SPORTS All-Canadians at Thursday's banquet.
Stevenson (Arts & Science) was also named the OUA Women's Rugby Rookie of the Year and an OUA All-Star last week.
Stevenson led Queen's in tries, and was tied for fourth in the OUA, with seven on the season. Stevenson's 35 points were second on the Gaels, behind only
Lizzie Gibson's conference-leading 100 points, and tied for 10th in the OUA.
Stevenson helped the Gaels to their fifth straight undefeated regular season, going 6-0 in 2024 and outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 455-36.
"Kennedi has had an unbelievable start to her Queen's Women's Rugby career – she's an incredible athlete with an unbelievable work ethic and an immense amount of potential," said Queen's Women's Rugby Head Coach,
Dan Valley. "It's been a pleasure coaching her this season, and I am so excited to see her go to work in the winter season and really take that next step towards being one of the top players in all of U SPORTS."
Queen's opened the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship with a 68-0 win over the Acadia Axewomen in the quarterfinals, and will take on the No. 8 seed Victoria Vikes in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 1. Watch the game live on CBC Gem and the
