Queen's Women's Soccer Drops Tight Contest to Ottawa 2-0

Queen's Women's Soccer closed out their regular season taking on the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Richardson Stadium in their second match up of the season. The Gaels fell 2-0.

Queen's defense put up a powerful presence through the first half, limiting Ottawa to two shots on goal, both of which were saved by goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan (Political Studies/Health Studies). Tynan concluded the game with four saves.

The Gaels lead offensively in the first with eight shots to Ottawa's four. Seema Sakran (Kinesiology) and Mattson Strickler (Con Ed) each picked up a shot on goal.

Neither team pulled ahead until Ottawa broke the stalemate in the 61st minute, with the Gee-Gees Cassandra Provost — who leads the OUA in goals — beating the Queen's defense and firing the ball into the net.

Gee-Gees' Élianne Gervais added another with a goal off a corner kick in the 76th minute.

With the loss, the Gaels finish the regular season third in the OUA East, with 25 points from an 8-3-1 record. The Ottawa Gee-Gee's and the Nipissing Lakers are ranked first and second respectively.
