Queen's Men's Soccer closed out their regular season with a 3-0 win, taking on the Trent Excalibur at home on Saturday Afternoon.
Both teams were evenly matched until the Gaels' Andrea Gortana lit up the scoreboard in the 76th minute, stealing the ball off the Excalibur defense and firing it into the bottom right corner.
This goal marked Gortana's 20th OUA career goal.
In added time, two more Gaels found goals of their own. George Papadopoulos bagged the first, and Nathan Fong—assist by Luca DeCaria—added the second, rounding out their season on a high note.
Graduating Goalkeeper Anand Sanchir also picked up three saves in the win.
Saturday was also Seniors' Day for Queen's Men's Soccer, with Noah Campagna, Matt Ciavarro, Andrea Gortana, Anand Sanchir, Nathan Toltl, and Jure Trutina being honoured for their time with the program prior to the game.
"This program is forever. Their time here's not done, it's just beginning as an alumni, and that's what we see, were growing a bigger family," Kiarash added.
While this marks the last game of the Men's Soccer season, the team chemistry that they have built will carry with them for years to come.
"We've grown as a team. What we really found was our joy. We found joy in the difficult moments, bringing everybody back and centering them and reminding them why we play this game. Its not to make playoffs, its not to win, its to enjoy it, to be with people you love being around," Head Coach Kasy Kiarash said, reflecting on the season.
