KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 5, 2024) - Queen's Women's Hockey opened the second half of their regular season with a 6-4 loss to the Guelph Gryphons Friday night at the Memorial Centre.
The Gaels and Gryphons traded goals to a 2-2 draw early in the second period before Guelph scored four straight goals to take a 6-2 lead.
Queen's staged a strong late comeback attempt, cutting the Gryphons' lead in half, but ultimately fell in a two-goal defeat.
Scout Watkins Southward (Kingston, Ont.) led Queen's offence with two goals while
Sarah Campbell (Oakville, Ont.) and
Kelsey Dunn (Sudbury, Ont.) also scored for the Gaels.
Mikayla Cranney (Aurora, Ont.) recorded two assists for Queen's in the loss.
With the loss, the Gaels' record fell to 8-8-0-0. Queen's returns to the ice Saturday afternoon, taking on the Brock Badgers at 2:30 p.m. in their
Kingston and Community Girls in Hockey Day.
