Queen's Women's Hockey defeats Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 2-1 on Saturday, January 27, at the Memorial Centre in Kingston, Ontario.
The first period started strong for the Gaels with a tip-in goal by Scout Watkins-Southward one minute in.
The second period was tense; Queen's scored a goal but it was waived off due to a high stick, and seven penalties were called during the period alone, giving the Gaels many opportunities for powerplay goals, but came up empty-handed.
Halfway through the third period, Ontario Tech scored a goal, bringing the score to 1-1. With only three minutes left in the game, Kennedy MacAlpine scored, resulting in a final score of 2-1 for Queen's.
Emma Tennant, who played in goal for Queen's, had a total of 27 shots on net, letting in one.
After this win, the Gaels' overall standing will rise to 12-10-0, and the women will be back in action on Friday, February 2nd, where they will take on the Guelph Gryphons in Guelph.
