Gaels make big comeback to secure first win of the season

BOX SCORE Queen's Men's Soccer defeated the Trent Excalibur 5-3 in an intense match on the road in Peterborough, Ont. Sunday, securing their first win of the season. 

Trent started off with two back-to-back goals, until a well-placed penalty goal from #7 Jason Cho in the 17th minute would put Queen's back in the game. Just a few minutes later, #11 Pablo Hempelmann-Perez managed to get past the defensive line and put an equalizer past the keeper. #9 Matthew Ciavarro was next to blast one in the side netting. The Gaels would carry this 1-point lead into halftime. 

In the 58th minute, Leo Frans scored for Trent, making it 3-3. #10 Andrea Gortana found the back of the net from just outside box in the 79th minute and the Gaels didn't stop there! In overtime, the Gaels sent the ball down the field where #13 Nathan Fong got it past the keeper to finish the game strong. 

Queen's recorded 9 shots on goal, while Trent recorded 6. With the win, the Gaels' record became 1-3-2. 

The Gaels are back on their home field at Richardson Stadium September 23 at 3:15 PM to take on TMU Bold.
