KINGSTON, Ont. (June 26, 2023) – Queen's Men's Volleyball alumnus and assistant coach Zac Hutcheson has signed a pro contract with Xari Bulbul Shusha Volleyball Club in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Hutcheson has spent the past two seasons serving as assistant coach with the Gaels after an incredible five-year playing career at Queen's. As a student-athlete, Hutcheson was a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian, OUA Player of the Year, and two-time OUA East Dale Iwanoczko Award of Merit recipient, while helping the Gaels capture the OUA Championship in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

"I'm extremely excited to see Zac take the next step in his playing career," said Queen's Men's Volleyball Head Coach Gabe deGroot. "Zac continues to impress each and every time he steps on the court to compete, and I know he'll do great things at the professional level. All the best, Zac!"

After his time with Queen's, Hutcheson was named to Volleyball Canada's National Excellence Program (NEP) in 2020.

Xari Bulbul Shusha Volleyball Club compete in the Azerbaijan League. Their inaugural season was in 2023.
