The Queen's Women's Hockey jersey of Janean Sergeant (née Gerow) is displayed as part of the Hockey Hall of Fame's new exhibit, Women's Hockey - Celebrating Excellence.

The Women's Hockey - Celebrating Excellence exhibit is an immersive compilation of artifacts and memorabilia showcasing the over century-long history of women in hockey from the rise of the game in the 1890s, post WWII re-emergence, mainstream triumphs and modern-day barrier breakers, per the HHOF website.

Sergeant's Queen's jersey is on display with a plaque that reads: "Queen's University Golden Gaels jersey worn by Janean Gerow through the 1974-74 and 1975-76 OWIAA seasons. During her freshman season with the Gaels, Gerow and her teammates went on to capture the school's second Ontario women's university hockey title in three seasons."

In three of her five years playing hockey, Queen's Women's Hockey earned the provincial championship. A multi-sport student-athlete, Sergeant was also part of Queen's Field Hockey, which also won the provincial championship during her time playing. Sergeant received the Award of Merit as Queen's Female Athlete of the Year in 1978-79.

"It is such an honour to see a Queen's Hockey jersey hanging in the Hockey Hall of Fame and although I wore this sweater, it represents all the amazing women who played for the University in the 70s!" Sergeant said. "We won four championships in that decade and never thought that we were doing anything special other than playing a sport we loved! Such a pleasure to be part of the history of women's hockey."

Sergeant remained at Queen's after graduation, coaching, coordinating recreation and intramural programs, managing administrative services and the fitness centre, and leading high-performance sport operations, a role she held until retirement in 2019.
