Queen's Women's Basketball closed out their regular season with a big 66-51 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury, Ont. Saturday, securing a 21-1 record on the season, their best record in program history.
Their previous best record was set in the 2016-17 season when the Gaels finished 18-1.
Queen's jumped out to an early double digits lead with a big first quarter, holding the Voyageurs to just eight points while pouring in 21. The rest of the game was back-and-forth with the Gaels holding on for the 15-point win.
Julia Chadwick led Queen's with a double-double, recording 14 points while grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
Laura Donovan also finished the game scoring in double digits, netting 11 points in the win.
The Gaels had major contributions off the bench as well, outscoring Laurentian's bench 25-17.
Queen's shot 39 per cent from the floor and 29 per cent from three-point range while holding the Voyageurs to 32 per cent shooting from the floor and 23 per cent from three-point range.
The Gaels finished atop the OUA East Division standings and will receive a bye through Round 1 of the OUA Playoffs. Queen's will host their Round 2 game Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
