Six Gaels named OUA All-Stars in Women's Soccer

KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 1, 2023) - Six players from Queen's Women's Soccer were named OUA All-Stars following their strong 2023 regular season.

Goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan, defender Clare Sun, midfielder Kendra Couto, and forward Leda Naihin were all named OUA East Division First Team All-Stars while defender Sophie Miranda and midfielder Seema Sakran were named OUA East Division Second Team All-Stars.

Tynan (North Vancouver, B.C.) surrendered just three goals all season, helping the Gaels finish as the top defensive team in the conference. Tynan made 22 saves throughout the season for Queen's.

Sun (Ottawa, Ont.) appeared in all 12 games for the Gaels, helping Queen's solidify the back line and finish as the OUA's top defensive unit.

Couto (Aylmer, Ont.) also appeared in all 12 regular season games for Queen's, finishing with one goal and two assists for the Gaels.

Naihin (Markham, Ont.) finished with eight goals and 12 points in 12 games in the regular season. Naihin's goals and points totals were also both in the Top 10 in each category in the OUA. Naihin was also named the OUA East Division Rookie of the Year.

Miranda (Cobble Hill, B.C.) was another key cog of the Gaels' conference-leading defensive effort. Miranda appeared in all 12 regular season games and finished with five goals and four assists.

Sakran (Ottawa, Ont.) was second on the Gaels in goals (eight), assists (six), and points (15). Sakran's 15 points were tied for third in the conference.
