Gaels wrap up regular season with another big, defeat McMaster to remain undefeated

KINGSTON, Ont. - Queen's Women's Rugby wrapped up their regular season Friday night at Nixon Field, defeating the McMaster Marauders 69-5.

With the win, the Gaels finished the regular season with a perfect 6-0 record, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 387-28.

Carmen Izyk (Blackie, Alta.), Madison Donnelly (Little Britain, Ont.), and Lizzie Gibson (Caledon, Ont.) led Queen's offence. Izyk and Donnelly had two tries each. With the two tries, Izyk finished the regular season leading the Gaels in tries with 10. Izyk's 10 tries also led the OUA.

Gibson finished the game with a team-high 19 points off one try and seven converts. Gibson finished the regular season atop both Queen's and the OUA's scoring list with 94 points.

Also scoring for the Gaels in the win were Maxie Grant (Halifax, N.S.), Taylor Perry (Oakville, Ont.), Rachel Cullum (Ottawa, Ont.), Mika Matsukubo (Ottawa, Ont.), Siobhan Sheerin (Toronto, Ont.) and Robyn Baker (Uxbridge, Ont.), all with one try each.
 

Friday night was also Seniors Night for the Gaels, with Maggie Banks (Coquitlam, B.C.), Izzy Delombre (Oakville, Ont.), Lizzie Gibson (Caledon, Ont.), Carmen Izyk (Blackie, Alta.), Taylor Perry (Oakville, Ont.), Siobhan Sheerin (Toronto, Ont.), and Jaden Walker (Oakville, Ont.) being honoured ahead of the game.

Queen's Women's Rugby will receive a bye into the OUA semifinals. The Gaels will host a semifinal matchup on the weekend of Oct. 20-21 at Nixon Field.
