KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 27, 2023) - Queen's Men's Volleyball won a five-set match against the Nipissing Lakers 3-2 (24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13) in the weekend opener Friday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
After a tough back-and-forth battle in the first set, the Gaels fell short to the Lakers by two points. The second set was another close match, but Queen's came out on top with a solid three-point win. The Gaels took the third set before the Lakers took the fourth, forcing a fifth and deciding set. In the end, the Gaels persevered and took the fifth set with a two-point win, ultimately winning the match.
Erik Siksna led Queen's with 23 kills while
Lachlan McBride finished the game with 12 and
Derek Chiang added 10.
Chris Zimmerman had a total of 49 assists and
Shane Gabel recorded 10 digs.
With the win, Queen's improved their record 7-6.
The two teams will be back at the ARC tomorrow, Saturday January 28 at 6 p.m, to complete their weekend doubleheader tomorrow.
