KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 21, 2023) - Queen's Women's Basketball defeated the Western Mustangs 100-59 Saturday evening at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
The Gaels started off just as strong as they finished, closing the first quarter with an 11-point lead over the Mustangs. The second quarter was full of exceptional plays by Queen's as they carried a 22-point lead into halftime.The Gaels built their lead to 36 points after three quarters on their way to the 41-point win.
Isabella Gaudet and
Julia Chadwick both topped the scoreboard with 20 points.
Isabella Belvedere was close behind with 17 points and 7 assists.
Speaking with Gaudet after the game, she emphasized how important it is to have fun on the court. She expressed that her passion for basketball runs deep and the team's love for the sport greatly contributes to their consistent successes. In terms of the play, head coach
Claire Meadows added that above all, she is most proud of the Gaels' defensive efforts tonight.Â
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 15-0, making them the only remaining undefeated team in U SPORTS Women's Basketball. Western's record fell to 8-6.
The Queen's Women's Basketball team will be back in action Friday January 27 at 6 p.m. against the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa, Ont.Â
