BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 11, 2023) - Queen's Men's Hockey followed up their weekend sweep with a mid-week win over the Carleton Ravens. The Gaels defeated the visiting Ravens 6-3 at the Memorial Centre Wednesday night.
Duncan Campbell,
Nolan Hutcheson, and
Hayden Fowler led the way in Queen's strong offensive effort, recording two points each.
The Gaels opened the scoring on the power play in the first period, when Campbell found the back of the net with a goal assisted by
Owen Lalonde and Fowler.
After the Ravens evened the score early in the second period on Majid Kaddoura's first of three goals on the night, Queen's netted three consecutive goals for a lead they would not relinquish.
Matthew Hotchkiss scored late in the second period with assists to
Ryan Cranford and Campbell, before Fowler scored with less than a minute to play in the second frame with assists to Hutcheson and
Jakob Brahaney.
Lucas Peric netted his first goal of the season early in the third period for Queen's, with assists to
Dalton Duhart and J.C. Thivierge.
Hutcheson scored a shorthanded goal later in the period with
Alex Robert collecting the assist before
Josh Curtis added an empty-netter, assisted by
Jack Duff.
Luke Richardson was solid in net for Queen's, recording 20 saves on 23 shots for the win. The Gaels ended the game with 38 shots on net.
With the win, Queen's third in a row, the team's record improved to 8-9-2 on the season. The Gaels are now just on point behind Carleton for sixth in the OUA East Division standings, with the Ravens' record falling to 6-7-3 after the loss.
Queen's Men's Hockey is off this weekend, but will return to the ice next weekend for a doubleheader at the Memorial Centre, hosting the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets to either game, please click
