KINGSTON, Ont. (March 11, 2022) - Queen's Women's Basketball went down to the wire with the No. 6 Carleton Ravens Friday at the ARC, ultimately getting edged 64-61 in the first game of their weekend home-and-home series.
The Gaels forced a Ravens turnover with five seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but couldn't manage a game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer, and were edged by three points.
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) led the way offensively for Queen's with a game-high 29 points, powered by five three-pointers.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, and
Sophie de Goede (Victoria, B.C.) finished with five points and 12 rebounds.
Queen's was out-shot by Carleton in the loss, finishing 23-72 (31.9 per cent) from the floor and 7-36 (19.4 per cent) from three-point range, compared to 26-63 (41.3 per cent) from the floor and 6-16 (37.5 per cent) from three-point range for the Ravens.
With the loss, the Gaels are now 8-5 on the season and in fourth in the OUA East Division standings. Carleton improved their record to 10-3 with the win.
Queen's will close out their regular season Saturday at 6 p.m. in Ottawa, Ont, taking on the Ravens in the backhalf of their home-and-home series.
