Queen's Rowing earns seven golds, two silvers, one bronze at Head of the Trent

Queen's Rowing had an extremely successful performance at their first event this season, the Head of the Trent regatta in Peterborough, Ont. this past Saturday.

The Gaels finished the regatta with seven first place finishes, two second place finishes, and one third place finish.

Queen's won gold in the Men's Single (Andrew Hubbard), Men's Double (Hubbard and Bob Bryden), Men's Lightweight Double (Alex Abicht and Lucas Celia), and Men's Four (Hubbard, Celia, Abicht, Bryden, Megan Stellato) on the Men's side, and the Women's Double (Jacquie Goenewegen and Claire Ellison), Women's University Four (Sara Stephenson, Emily Pain, Ceilidh MacDonald, Claire MacDougall, Brigitte Gaudert), and Women's Eight (Groenewegen, Ellison, MacDonald, Aliki Karanikas, Lauren Matai, Shaye de Paiva, Jill Sommers, Gillian Jansen, Isabelle Ngo) on the Women's side.

The Gaels added two silvers with the Women's Lightweight Single (Matai) and Women's Lightweight Double (Ngo and Jansen), and a bronze in the Women's (de Paiva).

Queen's is back on the water on Oct. 15 for the Brock Invitational in St. Catharines, Ont.
