Queen's Women's Volleyball got off to a strong start to the 2021-22 OUA regular season, defeating the Rams 3-0 in their home opener Friday at the ARC.

The Gaels defeated the Rams 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 to start the season 1-0. The Rams are 0-1 after the loss.

Arielle Palermo (Burlington, Ont.) led Queen's with a game-high 16 kills, followed by Lauren Mellon (Oakville, Ont.) with eight and Mary Stewart (Uxbridge, Ont.) with seven.

Mellon tied for the lead in blocks with Hannah Duchesneau (Sharon, Ont.) with three, while Stewart added two.

Lauryn Colpitts (Fredericton, N.B.) led the Gaels with 31 assists in the game while Stewart finished with a team-high 10 digs.

Queen's and the Rams will complete their season-opening doubleheader Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the ARC.
