Queen's Women's Soccer hosting second annual Kick for the Cure game Sunday against RMC at Richardson Stadium

Queen's Women's and Men's Soccer will be wearing pink and kicking for the cure at Richardson Stadium this weekend to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.

Queen's Women's Soccer is hosting their second annual Kick for the Cure game Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. against the RMC Paladins at Richardson Stadium. Queen's Men's Soccer will be supporting the cause as well in their game on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. against the Paladins at Richardson Stadium.

Queen's Women's Soccer has set a goal to raise $10,000 for breast cancer research this year. Donations can be made on the team's fundraising page.

"We are really excited to play our second annual Kick for the Cure game this Sunday at home at Richardson Stadium," said Queen's Women's Soccer forward Christie Gray. "We began this team initiative in 2019, since the "Run for the Cure" typically takes place in the middle of our season. We still wanted to make a big impact, so we dedicated one of our October home games to the cause. We wear a variety of pink accessories to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.

"Each year has been more successful than the past, and we hope to continue on this trajectory. In 2019, we raised just shy of $5,000, and last year we raised over $10,000, and completed a socially-distant run. But this year we hope it can be the best result yet. We appreciate any support and awareness you can provide for this important cause. We hope to see you in the stands on Sunday wearing pink!"

"We're incredibly proud of the time and work that our players invest into our Kick for the Cure game each year," said Dave McDowell, Head Coach, Queen's Women's Soccer. "It has become one of the highlights of our season and is a reflection of the effort our players and leadership group put into making it so important every year!"
