Game Recap: Hockey (M) | | Jesse Benoit (Sports Information Assistant)

Gaels fall to Ottawa 4-0 in final regular season game.

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 9th, 2020) - In their final regular season game before heading to the playoffs next week, the Gaels (12-13-1-2) fall to the Ottawa Gee-Gees (17-7-2-2) 4-0.

GAME FLOW

With the Gaels already having clinched a playoff spot, tonight's matchup would tell us who the Queen's would be taking on in the OUA playoffs beginning this week.
After twenty, the blue and gold would hold the high scoring Gee-Gees offense to no goals, however the first intermission would begin with both teams tied 0-0.

Two Ottawa goals in the second scored by Kevin Domingue less than five minutes into the period followed by Brendan Jacome with less than a minute to go in the second would put the Gaels down two going into the third.

Another early period goal by the Gee-Gees followed by a fourth and final goal ten minutes later with five minutes remaining in the game would seal the Gee-Gees win and cement the OUA playoffs bracket for Queen's.

Looking beyond tonight's game, though not the outcome the Gaels and fans were looking for to end the season, tonight's game will not be the last as they'll be competing for the OUA Queen's Cup later this week.
