Queen’s drops 74-59 decision to Ryerson as season ends in Toronto

TORONTO (February 22, 2020) - The Queen's Gaels (1-1) saw their 2019-20 season come to a close with an OUA quarter-final loss 74-59 to the Ryerson Rams (1-0) on Saturday night.

GAME FLOW
The Rams were able to take control from the opening tip-off, starting the game on a 7-0 run on their home court. Queen's battled back to get the lead down to four but Ryerson kept their offence strong and finished the frame with a 23-14 lead.

Queen's struggled offensively in the second quarter scoring just four points compared to 18 for the Rams. At halftime, the Gaels found themselves down 41-18.

The third quarter saw Queen's chip away at the Ryerson lead, strong second-half performances from Julia Chadwick with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the second half and 10 points from Sophie de Goede in the final two quarters.

The Gaels found themselves in too much of a hole offensively and were only able to get to as close as 11 points in the final quarter.

With a total of 45 combined points, the Rams Hayley Robertson and Marin Scotten led Ryerson to the 74-59 victory.
