KINGSTON, Ont. (February 19, 2020) - The Queen's Gaels (0-1) saw their season come to a close with a 91-81 loss to the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-0) in the opening round of OUA playoffs at the Queen's ARC in Kingston.
GAME FLOW
The two sides played a close game throughout the opening half, with the Syllas brothers Luka and Cole each putting down seven first-quarter points as the two teams were even at 24-24.
The second quarter saw
Cole Syllas add another 10 as Queen's went into the break with a five-point lead.
In the second half, the Golden Hawks played their best basketball of the game, thanks to an incredible performance from Adnan Begovic.
After holding the Gaels to just eight third-quarter points and opening up a four-point lead of their own heading into the fourth, Begovic went red-hot scoring 16 points in the final frame shooting 5-5 from the field and 4-4 from beyond the arc.
The Gaels were no match for the offensive output as Laurier scored 32 total points to seal the 91-81 victory.
Laurier will now advance to the OUA quarter-final where they will visit Lakehead on Saturday night.
