KINGSTON, Ont. (February 17, 2019) – The Queen's Gaels (11-6) took down the visiting Trent Excalibur (1-16) in a straight-set victory on Sunday afternoon. The scores of each set were 25-21, 25-15, 25-9.
GAME FLOW
The Excalibur started the game strong jumping to an 8-5 lead. However, kills from
Danielle Corrigan,
Caroline Livingston and
Julia Wiercigroch helped the Gaels get back to a 13-12 lead.
It was a back-and-forth battle as both teams were as the Gaels carried a 21-20 lead before
Arielle Palermo,
Caroline Livingston and
Sierra Hardy recorded kills to close the set out 25-21.
The start of the second set was a different story for the Gaels. They jumped out to a quick 10-6 lead before Trent clawed their way back to within two at 11-9.
However, a series of errors allowed the Gaels to regain a strong lead eventually building the cushion to 20-13. Livingston led the push to close out the set as the Gaels took it 25-15.
The Gaels cruised through the third and final set as they limited the Excalibur to just 9 points.

With the win, the Gaels move to within 2 points of the Toronto Varsity Blues who currently hold the second seed in the OUA East. With two games remaining, if the Gaels were to grab the second seed they would host an OUA Quarterfinal matchup.

The Gaels will remain at home for their final two games of the regular season. On Friday, February 22 they'll welcome the RMC Paladins (1-16) and on Saturday, February 23 the Lakehead Thunderwolves (1-15) will visit the ARC.
