All-around effort helps Gaels to 94-65 win over Toronto

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 22, 2019) - The Queen's Gaels (5-4) had five players finish with 11 or more points as they defeated the Toronto Varsity Blues (2-5) 94-65 on Friday night at the Queen's ARC.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels led for the entire game and opened up an early 13-4 advantage in the early stages after Harry Range found an open Connor Keefe in the paint for an easy bucket. Range himself had six first-quarter points as the Gaels found themselves up 27-17 after the opening quarter.

The second quarter was more tightly contested as the Gaels outscored Toronto 18-15, the duo of Cole Syllas and Cameron Bett paced Queen's offensively as Cole had nine points and Betts five. Heading into halftime Queen's was ahead comfortably 45-32.

The Gaels continued to shoot the ball well in the second half as everyone was chipping in offensively. The team shot 56.3% in the third quarter and 63.2% in the fourth quarter. Range and Quinton Gray led the offence in the third with seven points apiece while Luka Syllas had three third-quarter blocks. The fourth saw Bruno Chan add six and Landon Brickendon tack on another seven as the Gaels led by as many as 29.

The Gaels picked up the win from there 94-65.

Five Gaels finished with double-digit points as Keefe had 14, Range had 13, both Gray and Cole Syllas had 12 and Bett finished with 11. Toronto was led by Evan Shadkami who led all players with 20 points.
