Gaels fall in close contest against Western

LONDON, Ont. (November 15, 2019) - The Queens Gaels (3-4) dropped a tough matchup against the Western Mustangs (5-2) in a final score of 81-76.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels got things going early as Cole Syllas dropped his first two of eight points on the evening. They continued to dominate in the first quarter as the Mustangs were unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities. With the help of Connor Keefe getting four of his 11 rebounds in the first ten minutes, Queens was able to hold Western to just nine points in the first quarter.

The Mustangs, led by Nikola Farkic who scored a total of 17 points, gained momentum in the second quarter to bring themselves within one point of the Gaels. As Queens turned the ball over to Western eight times before the half, this gave the Mustangs the opportunity to score 27 points. At half the score was 37-36 in favour of Queens.

The second half of the game was a competitive effort on both sides of the court, keeping the score close throughout the third quarter.

Quinton Gray scored 18 out of his 27 total points in the second half and his offensive push was followed closely by Harry Range who added 11 out of his 19 total points. Omar Shido and Nikola Farkic combatted the Queens effort, however, as Western pulled away late for a narrow 81-76 victory.
