North Bay, Ont. (October 27, 2019) The Queen's Gaels (2-0) swept the Nipissing Lakers(1-1) in straight sets to close out a perfect opening weekend.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels dominated the first set, crushing the Lakers by almost double 25-13. The second set also held strong for the Gaels, as they duplicated the first set winning 25-13, and added 14 digs.
The Lakers, however, made a comeback bid in the third set. The Gaels were able to hold a strong defense and ultimately came out on top of the third set 25-20, despite the Lakers efforts on offense. The Gaels finished off the opening OUA season weekend with a kill percentage of .197, compared to the Lakers -.060.
Julia Wiercigroch lead the game with 24 attempts, putting up 15 points with 12 kills.
Arielle Palermo continues her strong weekend performance with 12.5 points, 19 total attempts and 5 kills.
Danielle Corrigan played a strong game on offensively and defensively, nailing a total of 7 points, 12 total attempts and returning with 9 digs.
