Queen's upset by Toronto in OUA quarterfinals

Kingston, Ont. (October 27th, 2019)  The Gaels (12-0-2, 0-1) undefeated season comes to end as the Toronto Varsity Blues upset Queen's 3-0 in the OUA quarterfinals at Richardson Stadium.

GAME FLOW

In the Gaels first playoff match up following a first round bye and an undefeated regular season, Toronto opened the match to an early 1-0 lead as Miranda Badovinac found the back of the net in the 18th minute. 

The Gaels would complete the first half leading 3-2 in shots, however trailing 1-0 on the scoreboard.  

In the 49th minute, Badovinac scored her second goal of the game to give the Blues a 2-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Jenny Woelver put the Gaels ahead 3-0, a lead that would prove to be insurmountable for Queen's. 

The final ten minutes of the game saw the Gaels offense constantly pressuring Toronto's goalkeeper ending the day with 11 shots compared to Toronto's four, however, Queen's was unable to break through and fell 3-0.
 

BY THE NUMBERS

11 - The Gaels finished the day with more than double the amount of shots Toronto was able to accumulate.
5 - Shots recorded by Christie Gray who ended her final game of the year with more shots than all of Toronto combined.
1 - Queens finishes the 2019 season with a single loss second only to Ottawa.
