BOX SCORE TORONTO, Ont. (September 29, 2018) – The Queen's Gaels conquer the Ryerson Rams in a hard fought road game 3-1.
GAME FLOW
To start the first half of the match, the Gaels had a hard battle for possession and put strong pressure on the Rams' defence.
In the 25th minute of the game, the Gaels found themselves trailing Ryerson after the Rams scored the opening from just outside the 18-yard box. The Tricolour attempted to even up the score before the end of the first half but were met with the solid efforts by Ryerson goalie. The first half closed with a score of 1-0 for the Rams.
Throughout the second half of the game, the Gaels picked up the intensity and maintained possession of the ball but were unable to find the back of the net until the final 15 minutes of the game. In the 78th minute, Jenny Wolever (Mississauga, Ont.) put the ball past the Ryerson goalie, finally tying up the game at 1-1. A minute later, Wolever scored a second goal, putting Queen's in the lead 2-1.
The final goal of the game was scored by Christie Gray (Vancouver, Ont.) in the 88th minute, lengthening the Queen's lead to 3-1. The Gaels maintained their lead for the final two minutes of the game and took home the win with a score of 3-1.
