MONTREAL (September 22, 2018) - In their first exhibition tournament of the 2018-19 season the Queen's women's hockey team is in Montreal for the Old Four tournament with Western, Toronto and McGill.
SUNDAY
In the championship final it was McGill that got the jump on the Gaels.
After scoring twice in the opening period McGill extended their lead to 4-0 in the second with a pair of goals.
Queen's was finally able to get on the board themselves late in the second period after
Katrina Manoukarakis scored an unassisted powerplay goal.
McGill held strong from there for the 4-1 win.
SATURDAY
The Gaels took on OUA rivals the Western Mustangs to kick-off their Old Four schedule on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor Hicks wasted no time for the Gaels scoring just 2:53 into the opening period to put Queen's up 1-0. The goal came on the powerplay and saw assists from Poserorski and
Katrina Manoukarakis.
After Western tied the game just under two minutes later, the two sides traded goals to close out a high scoring opening period 2-2.
Queen's was able to break the deadlock deep into the third period as
Quinn Johnston scored at 16:57 into the third frame on an assist from
Robin Ketcheson.Â
The Gaels hung on for the victory and
Stephanie Pascal picked up the win finishing with 21 saves.
