de Goede and Hickson shine as Gaels down No.5 McMaster

| By:
HAMILTON, Ont. (September 16, 2018) – The Women's' Rugby Team (2-1) bested the McMaster Marauders (1-1) 34-14 on Sunday as the Gaels bounced back from a home loss last weekend, restoring their winning record in OUA play.

GAME FLOW
It was a quiet first half scoring wise for both sides: the Gaels opened with an early try but afterwards there was no scoring from either side – leaving the halftime score 8-0 in favour of the Gaels.

The Gaels extended their advantage early in the second half, jumping out to a commanding 22-0 lead, only allowing the Marauders to score when the match was already well out of reach.

The teams traded tries right as the clock approached fulltime, but the match had already been decided as the Gaels got their season back on track with a convincing 34-14 victory.

BY THE NUMBERS
2 – Two tries each for Sophie de Goede and Rachel Hickson.
8 – Rachel Hickson continued to add to her impressive try total through 3 matches, now with eight on the season.
40 - After a defensive first half, both teams broke through in the second combining for a total of 40 points.

UP NEXT
The Gaels will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees next Saturday in exhibition play at 10:30am on Nixon Field.
