Gaels fall to Gee-Gees 4-1 to close out first semester

KINGSTON, Ont. (December 1, 2018) - The No.8 Gaels (12-4-0) dropped a 4-1 decision to the No.5 Ottawa Gee-Gees (13-1-2) in OUA men's hockey action on Saturday night.

GAME FLOW
With the top spot in the OUA on the line, it was no surprise that the two teams opened the game up with a tightly checked period. The Gee-Gees were able to open up the scoring off of a power play chance that saw a deflection at the side of the net beat Gaels starting netminder Justin Fazio.

In the second period, Connor Sills scored at the 6:34 to open up a two-goal lead for Ottawa.

The Gaels were quick to respond as Luke Edwards notched his fourth of the season putting the Gaels within one heading to the final frame.

Behind a 30 save effort from Gee-Gees netminder Graham Hunt, Ottawa was able to fend off the Queen's attack and skate out of Kingston with a 4-1 victory.

FIRST HALF AT A GLANCE
The Gaels saw their six-game win streak snapped by the Gee-Gees but sit in second place in the OUA East with an impressive 12-4-0 record.
