TORONTO, Ont. (November 3 2018) - The Queen's Gaels (2-2) were defeated in a close and hard fought five-set game against the Toronto Varsity Blues (2-1).
 
GAME FLOW
The Tricolour played a strong first set with 14 kills allowing Queen's to take the lead early on. The Gaels played a strong defensive set with only 2 errors, holding the Varsity Blues at bay. The first set was awarded to the Gaels with a score of 25-21.
 
The Gaels followed up with another hard fought second set with 16 kills. Great offensive efforts made by 
Zac Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont.), 
Mitchell Neuert (Toronto, Ont.) and 
Shane Gabel (Winnipeg, Man.). The Gaels made 6 errors, making it a tight game yet Queen's managed to hold the Varsity Blues from pulling ahead. The Tricolour took the set in extra points with a score of 29-27.
 
The third set was much more of a challenge for the Gaels as the Varsity Blues stepped up their offensive and defensive game. Queen's was unable to find holes in Toronto's defence and ultimately lost the set with a score of 20-25.
 
Queen's also fumbled again in the fourth set with 5 errors and 12 kills. The Varsity Blues capitalized on the holes in the Gael's defence and took the lead. Toronto took the set with a score of 23-25 and tied up the game at 2 sets.
 
The Varsity Blues entered the set with a two set momentum but the Gaels didnt give up easy.  Queen's made 8 kills in the final set and tied the game at 13 all. Unfortunately, the Gael's were unable to snag the last two points of the game and the Varsity Blues took the fifth set off an attack error made by Queen's. The set ended with a score of 15-13 in favour of Toronto.
