PETERBOROUGH, Ont. (November 24th 2018) - The No.9 Queen's Gaels (7-2) win their first 3 set sweep of regular season against the Trent Excalibur (0-7). The scores of each set were 25-12, 25-19 and 25-22.
GAME FLOW
The Gaels played an extremely strong first set, taking 11 kills and only making one error. The Gaels held the Excalibur to 6 kills, playing an extremely tight defensive set. Queen's ultimately took the first set with a score of 25-12.
It was a tighter game in the second set, with a score of 25-19. The Tricolour made 12 kills, dominating the Excalibur who were limited at 6. The Gaels make only 2 errors in the second set, allowing them to hold the lead for much of the set.
In the third, the Gaels struggled to find kills against the Excalibur defence but managed to push 9 kills onto the Trent court. Queen's limited their errors to 2 but were unable to maintain a tight defence throughout the set. Trent scored 6 kills on the Gaels but Queen's was able to win the third and final set with a score of 25-22.
Zac Hutcheson (Kingston, Ont) lead the Gaels in kills against the Excalibur with 10 kills followed by Joel Rudd (Cambridge, Ont.) with 5. Dylan Hunt (Sharon, Ont.) lead Queen's in solo blocks while Rudd lead the team with 15 digs.
